buying a car...
Evilgoat:
To be fair, the Fiesta has always been a reasonable little car. Specially if you were lucky enough to get one of the early ones with the crossflow engines that eventually worked its way into the XR2. CVH based escorts wernt too bad either, but both were a [!Expletive Deleted!] for rust.
Spent ages workign out why the change kept vanishing out of the ashtray of my ex's 900cc poular plus. Then we found the hole in the tunnel it was falling through :)
Other car that surprised me was the Renualt 11. OK it was underpowered and a bit battered but was a comfortable drive and just nicely thought out.
Could always go Mafia Staff Car: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-AUDI-100-E-BLACK_W0QQitemZ290154985377QQihZ019QQcategoryZ9835QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem :)

We were looking at these for a friend who wanted a cheap runabout. Early ones are now well under £1k. And the build quality seem superb. If you can live with the stigma about the badge, they are great little cars. Parts are reasonably priced too, even from main dealers.
