Hi,

Does anyone have a copy of the Fairy overdrive - fitting instructions they could email?

 :D

ChrisV8:
:D Somewhere I have but cannot find at the moment, but back issues of LRO November and December 1995 had a complete strip and rebuild article.

Lucy1978:
They're not difficult to fit.

Remove the rear and top transfer box covers

release the locking tab on the lock washer for the special nut on teh end of the mainshaft

undo the special nut on the mainshaft

remove the gear ont eh end of the mainshaft and replace with the dog that fits inside the overdrive.

take the locking washer and cut back all but one of the locking tabs

refit the washer and special nut

fit a new gasket and slide in the overdrive unit

the lever bracket bolts on to the two horizontal bolts that bolt the top gearbox cover on.

HTH

Chris

No (screwdriver and hammer does the job) and yes, but you'll have to cut the tabs down as they'll foul the gear.
