RSS newsfeed
thermidorthelobster:
I've just started using the mud-club RSS newsfeed (with NewsTicker client on the Mac, set for updates every 5 minutes), but what I'm seeing in the newsfeed is a lot less than what I see if I do a "search for new posts" in the forum; for example, at the moment I've just got the Rover VM For Sale, and the Scrap V8 Block Wanted posts showing, even though there has been loads of stuff posted in the last few hours.
It doesn't seem to be because the client is getting rid of all the unread stuff each time it updates. Is it supposed to work like that?

No... it should give all the posts I think.
I'll get the Mac Fired up and see what it does from here.

Just mulling it over actually... it might be something to do with membership... The RSS feed works like an unprivileged member... so might not be able to see all the forums..
I'll have a play

It seems to be filling up a bit now - I'm getting posts from various forums. I've noticed, however, that I get a separate post for "For Sale :: Modified Disco" and "For Sale :: RE: Modified Disco".
Is it possible to tweak so that you only get one entry per topic, and not the replies?
Also, how long do topics stay in the feed before they expire?
David

The RSS feed isn't that clever I'm afraid, it gets updated with every post in the monitored topics.. it's designed that way.
Your client should be able specify how long the posts remain valid.
