Back box gone AWOL, DIY or Kwik Fit?
clbarclay:
Fair enough, though for anyone else interested in doing a side exit a friend did his disco using a piece of exhuats braded flex clamped on where the existing exhaust was cut, no welding required though still had to cut a hole in the body work.
crazymac:
My back box fell off a few months ago, and a mate who's an MOT tester told me it would fail as it needs to clear the body work (as mentioned abouve re fumes hanging about)
I intend to get a piece of flexi pipe and clamp it on to make a side exit, no welding, cheep solution
grizz:
I wouldn't bother with the back box just use an exhaust clamp an some straight exhaust, far cheaper and the slight increase in noise sounds good, also if your going to weld an exhaust, make sure you give the old part a good clean inside ( near to where your going to weld) to get the carbon off, as welding it reacts with the carbon and won't last very long after the repair, The side exit is always a good option :D
AbyssDJ:
how do you go about a side exit with flexy pipe? surely you need a small piece after the flexy to make it look normal, which would need to be fixed somehow?
gtomo2:
have a look at my photos i have a side exit done with flexi pipe you just need to buy one of them chrome tail pipe type things that halfords sell just to finish the end off.
