intercooler question...!

<< < (2/2)

winx:
I had a brunel replacement fitted by John at Billing, really nice chap and been great with some other queries I had for other bits since.

At first I wasn't that impressed with my intercooer, but the more I drive it, the more I notice the improvements, made an awesome difference to driveability, and can use a gear higher most of the time without straining the engine!

Sharpshooter:
I noticed the improvements of the Allisport one immediately. I cannot express enough how much you should get one of these.  8)  8)

Pulling away, overtaking general driving is much better. And its saving me fuel too.

They are easy enough to fit yourself, and all the instructions come with it. They will fit it for you if you travel up there.

Catharo:
Thank you lads..!

like i said, i have already play with the membrane and raise the turbo to 1 k and it is to be said that the improuvement was impresive..! Now i was wondering if with that done would i notice even more with a bigger intercooler.I do have AC so i guess a large one across is out of question...!I think i will wait until the next year Landmania and have a chat with the Allisport 's Guys.Until then I think i will get a new set of injectores i bet i will be surprise..!!!

Once again, Thank you guys...!

Ja1983:
injectors might not make a difference, it depends on the state of the ones you already have... if the mileage is below 150k, i wouldnt really bother.

a full service wit good quality oil will help your turbo spin smoother, and air filter run less restricted (i imagine dust is a problem in spain?!)

...but the best bargain power upgrade is altering the power:weight ratio

remove unessecary stuff, spare seats, carpets, sound proofing etc.... this reduces the amount of weight the engine has to pull around, and therefore it should have a bit more poke & possibly use less fuel aswell.

Sharpshooter:
Im guessing that by adjusting the pump and turbo your probably not actually adding much more power. I did these first and noticed it was more responsive pulling away. I also had an ITG high flow foam air filter too.

But the bestand easiest way to increase the power is the intercooler.

As you have said you have air con fitted, Allisport do a replacment Intercooler that fits in the original hole.

But its core is alot bigger. So the replacement ones are said to give 18-20% increase. And the Full Width one 35-40%. Depending on the condition of your engine in the first place.

I was going to go for the smaller one, but as Allisport said. Youll only want the bigger one very soon. :)
