intercooler question...!
Catharo:
Hello everyone from sunny Spain
Could some tell me if fitting a big intercooler in our 200 do really work...!?
i have already play with the pump and the turbo with good result and was wondering if a big intercooler would improuve even more....!
Thank you for your time..!
Gracias..! :D
Disco-Ron:
I know that it helps even in the UK, so in Spain with the higher ambient temps i would have thought that the benifti would/could be greater still!!

Yes mate, as said if you can get cool air into the intercooler then the more surface the better.
The limiting factor in how uch power you can produce is not how much fuel you can put in but how much air, so cooling it condenses it and allows more air by mass into the engine. This allows more fuel to be fully burned rather than making black smoke.
Do you have airconn? I ask as the airconn rad limits how much space you have but also heats the air before it gets to the intercooler, so for more power turn the airconn off
Might be worth trying to clean the one you have first as they fill with sludgy oily cack from the oil breather. I'm re-routing the oil breather to a catch tank and capping the EGR too.
One thing to watch in your climate will be the exhaust temperature as tuning will see a rise in exhaust temp.
Sharpshooter:
I have just fitted a full width Allisport Intercooler to my 200Tdi disco. All i can say is WOW.
