move seat back
redhand:
Unbolt the seat and base move seat back to where you want it to go.
Mark position of mounting holes on floor and drill new holes to suit.
big rob:
It's done.
I have succesfully moved the drivers seat back 2" in my 52 td5 disco 2.
I bought a spare seat off ebay to steal the seat runner/ subframe and to learn how the seat was constructed, also any mistakes made it's not the good seat!
To remove the seat from the car you'll need a special e14 star socket (halfords have them)
Remove the seat base surround.
Remove star sockets bolts.
Remove seat belt bolt at side of chair.
Seat can now be removed.
In workshop or kitchen turn seat upside down, On viewing the runners you'll notice at each end two crimps or compressions and two runner stops. The stops can be drilled out from below by drilling the squashed part of the stop and drifting out (one stop at each end of runner) only remove the rear stops.
defom the crimps so the metal is all inline, on further inspection look down the channel where the crimps have been straightened you will see a ball bearing push the seat backwards on the rail and the bearings and spacers can be removed. the cahair can now be taken off the rail.
Move chair to safe corner out of the way.
drill out all the rivets on both sides of rail and seperate to runners from the sub base, clean edges of rail in prepartion for welding. move seat runners back 2" and mig weld runner back onto seat base. paint black with hammerite and til dry.
Seat can be tilted by cutting the bolt hole into a slot nearest the gear stick then the seat can be adjusted back and insert washers on other front bolt
reassemble seat back on to rail deform grimps and replace stops with 6mm nut and bolt cut to length, replace seat in car.
enjoy leg room and comfort, if I put the seat fully back now it's too far back.
I hope this helps anyone whom like me doesn't live in lilleyput.
