breaker breaker
wrecker:
a lil time ago i was reading a land rover book and in one of the pages there was a chap who was saying that when out in his landy he turns his cb on to the breaker channel 19, and when ever he sees a 4x4 on his travels he sends out a breaker,
i have done this myself after reading this and have to say that 8 out of 10 times i seem to get a shout back, and it seems to be every 4x4 not just one make,
so next time your out turn the cb on 19 and see who you get, every one that i have had a chat with seems nice and always willing to chat about 4x4 type stuff,
just an idea but you never know that in time it could well kick off,
thanks for your time,
mark :D

err yes.
Channel 19 and 14 for making friends, channel 9 for emergencies, and kinda in between for trying to avoid minicabs.........

I bought a CB a few weeks ago and only planned to use it for offroading so only have it as a temp fixture (cigar lighter and a mag mount) but it works well :)
I have had "Radio 5" reports when I ask for a rig check, so I know it's working ok.
I also go fishing, so I have turned it on whilst I am en route to matches.
There doesn't seem to be anyone actually using cb these days, not like it was the last time I used cb regularly... well there's still the idiot that likes to share his taste in music with anyone unfortunate to be monitoring ch19 :?
Mine isn't a an all singing all dancing with scanning facility radio, so I can't be sure, but it seems that the EU (UK legal ) channels are never used at all...
Which channels should I be tuned to for a general shout when I eyeball another massive twig on the roof of a 4x4 ?
It seems that UK19 is just local homebase stations twittering on about how much ale they supped before they attempted to pull the local tart.
Apart from offroading use, does anyone actually use a cb these days ?
It used to be fun, now it's just saddos with nowt better to do until the next giro pops through the letter box.
end of rant... off to bed

yea 19 is the calling channel but you do get the normally home base kid using it as a radio station or just trying to be annoying. i normallly just inore these poeple as they soon go out of range. But yea shout out for a copy and some truck drive will shout back or if you hear some truckers talking on 19 just join in. Normally have a good laugh when stuck in traffic. And it has been knowen for drivers to shout out to see whos got the kettle on etc and meet up by his truck.
