bad vibrations
« on: August 06, 2007, 19:14:12 »
a friends rangie has started to vibrate when being driven, no matter what speed the vibration is still there
he,s checked the props etc which all seem fine but i wondered whether it would be the transfer box? would a 93 on a K have a viscous coupling? and if so how to test if its working

suggestions welcome :D

Is he sure its not a seized UJ, it will show no free play but will cause a vibration, remove the rear prop and try driving in difflock, then vice versa with the front to narrow the issue down

Cheers Steve

well my mate brought his rangie in today saying it wasnt the props as he had checked them :?  but i double checked and can only say he must have checked them from a mile away in the dark   front prop uj was utterly knackered to the point where it was about to drop out   so now he needs a new prop

My front one was the same, you could only see the play in it with one wheel on each axle jacked up so it would turn.
