the intercooler is under pressure from the turbo, find it hard to see how water could get sucked in through it. more likely to have blown bubbles i'd have thought. as said before more likely to have stalled with an exhaust valve open and water travelling up the exhaust, and filling the bores ?. alan.......

The intercooler is only under pressure when the engine is running on boost.... which it's not most of the time, all other times it's running under vacuum, and would therefore SUCK IN water.....

striped all the intercooler down todayto clean it and found the problem
a 2 inch split in the hose that connects the bottom intercooler to themetal pipe which runs to the turbo
now its got all the power back and runs great  :D
but now the starter motor has packed up  :(
