According to 'The Star' paper linked in the second paragraph, the Dog in question was a Rottweiller.
I didn't think that it was a breed used for Police work in this country??

I let one of out dog units have a "Bite" the other evening.
It was the end of an evening shift and I wanted a go.
well put on the heavy duty rubber sleeve, then over it a strong cover. and away I went!
All I can say is WOW that hurt with all that protection, I had a massive bruise in the shape of a dog bite!
Good fun, it really gets your heart beating I can say.
Now film it and put it on you tube, but got asked to take it off by one of the bosses. :roll:
I think the dog units are the best thing in the police, I remember once looking for some dids who had been stealing from a building site. We just couldn’t find them as they were so well hidden. So we surrounded the compound and waited for the dog van. Dog unit pulled up, he got the dogs out and then 3 men appeared hands up saying â€Ok mate just don’t let it goâ€
