Hope the poor dog wasn't to traumatised or ill from the encounter!

The Bobby accompanying 'scrote' was definately full of more concern for his mates Dog, than said 'scrote'

The Smiths:
My cousin used to be a dog handler in the prison service.

He's told me about selection of dogs for training:
Police - dogs with the best temprament to be able to work with the public
Then armed forces - need a resonable temprament for use
Then prison service - the worst ones - so long as they can be trained to work to command.

They also tried rottweilers - but they had a tendancy to bite arms off because the bite force is too high.

And the problem with that is what exactly? easy to identify the suspect!
I was present at the arrest of one of the supposed hardest men in the town where I was working at the time.
This guy was a real nasty piece of work and had made off on foot, leaving a large amount of stolen gear behind.
He was chased by one of the Constabulary's finest canine equalizers, who promptly got teeth in. The bloke was dragged back and he appeared to be walking a bit like John Wayne. We thought this was due to the dog fanging his arse. It wasn't until he was searched and given a good pat down on the trouser legs that the cause of his strange walk was discovered.
To use the polite phrase, he had 'soiled' himself in fright!
Did we laugh? Oh yes! For months after all we had to do to get this guy to shut up if he was playing up, was to walk up to him and growl. Fantastic!

My dad is n ex-screw, he once told me a story about a fellow officer who bought a retired prison guard dog.

Accordingly the pooch was as a good as gold on it's lead, new all the local scum, (they new the dog too!). But one day he let it off the lead and a jogger ran past. He said he had never seen it move so fast, had the jogger on the ground in an instance.
Unfortunatly for the dog it was the end of the road. But it had only done what it had spent years doing.

richo:
When i was running a large warehouse in peterborough a few years ago police use to sometimes ask to train on our site at night.
One night they said to me go and hide in your ware house and the dog will find you so i did.
I hid 40 ft in the air on top of a stack of pallets in total darkness and ever tried to breath very slow and not move and that dog found me with in five mins.
Hats off to the dog section them toe rags don't stand a chance.
