Windows steaming up when I turn the heater on.

The_Gods_Must_Be_Crazy:
Hi,

The other day I was driving home in the rain without the heater on.  I decided I wanted some heat so I turned the heat and the fan on.  Almost instantly my windows steamed up, leaving me frantically wiping the inside on the windscreen so I could see where I was going!

This has happened to me once before, in similar circumstances, and I was wondering what might cause this - maybe water sitting by the heater waiting to be turned to steam when I turn the heat on, or if anyone here has had similar experiences and knows what to look for.

Cheers,

Dan.

Evilgoat:
Water pooled in/inhaled by the heater or steam leak in the matrix.

I had this all the time, until i emptied all the clay and water from the bottom of the heater fan housing.  The drain plug in the heater intake was blocked.

Yep, that's it, I had the same but once unblocked no more mist :)

Litch:
There are only two possibilities.
As previously stated either the matrix is leaking or the drain-bulb needs to be squeezed & emptied, amazing how many people don't even know about it.
