Sanding

(1/5) > >>

Evilgoat:
Why is sanding walls so messy and so tiring.

*cough cough*

Look like the pilsbury dough boy and I have only done half of one of the 4 walls.

chris9119:
Dear pilsbury dough boy

I never get covered when the sanding's done, I'm always out

screwy:
I sympathise its horrible. I tell what makes it better is NOT using a power sander. I really dont think they help remove that much material and for all the noise and worse mess, I reckon hand-sanding is better.

I recently started using the new SandBlaster by Scotch. Bloody excellent little tool. For large areas, get a proper plasterers sander.

Evilgoat:
My arm would have dropped off by now without my lil sandcritter :)

Basically I'm undoing previous owner/councils handiwork. Anyone that owned an ex council house probobly knows what I'm up against. At some point they have replastered the bedroom walls....

and skirtingboards, doors, ceiling, radiator and sockets. Some class workmanship, like not removing the curtain poles to do it so that I have 3 2" circles where they plastered round it and the finish is just awful. If I had the time money I'd take it back to bricks and start over. Markes from the float all over the place, tons of surface inperfections, drip marks...

If it had have been my house at the time they would have been asked to come back and try again without the chimpanzees.

I also apear to be sneezing whats best described as yellow pollyfiller (walls were yellow)

SWEETY:
Evilgoat I did'nt realise you were living in my house
I know what your up against, the council put in a new kitchen & bathroom 5 month ago & all the paint work in the bathroom has crack or fell off  The kitchen i'm taking back out at the latest next year to refit it properly as the benches are not level & the joiner could'nt cut straight if his life depended on it. The council have said the work was finish to a good standard
