410 or 413??
« on: July 26, 2007, 09:42:45 »
My fiance is looking into getting an SJ but is there much difference in the 1.0 and 1.3?

does the extra 300cc make much difference?

Also how easy are the TD conversions? Seen a few vauxhall and pug conversions.

I drive a mixture of Suzuki offroaders .... vitara heavily modified....... sj416 heavily modified.......... sj410 modified.  The 416 started life as a sj413, then had a 1600cc engine installed, paddle clutch and bigger wheels fitted..... the sj410 has a spring lift, body lift and 31x10.5r15 wheels plus a bedford rascal carb. carrying one or two people I wouldn't say the 410 is lacking much grunt compared to the sj416. Have 3 or more in or go extreme off-roading then you notice the difference. The sj410 is great for green laneing and on the road its ok to. The advise I would give is go for either, unless you are offered a Sammy which has a wider wheel span.
The sj410 could be for sale if you are interested.
cheers mark

Depends on what its needed for.  For serious stuff you need to go bigger than 1300cc. worth concidering derv conversion. For a playtoy possiblly go for a 410. (remember the gearing is different). For comfort then go for the vitara and pay the £200 yearly tax!!!!!!

How easy are the derv conversions..?

Done plenty of car conversions but converting from petrol to derv is surely different.
