is excessivley low mileage a problem?
Ja1983:
i`m looking into a 300TDi on an M plate, main reason is it only has 22,000 miles (with proof!) now instantly this may seem very good, but i`m not sure...
why so little use?
timing belt been changed as per 80kmiles/5year theory?
other problems relating to lack of use?
its within the price range, and from what i`ve been told is a very clean disco, just seems a bit too good!
any thoughts greatly apprechoated, other options are 200Tdi powered truck cab 90, or Tdi powered 90 van back, both with a few select goodies..
cheers

Japanese???
I bought an Ex Jap 48K 'N' Plate last year - no evidence of miles.
I spent two hours ripping out carpets, underneath - poking, prodding, test drive, etc, etc.
11 months later - faultless. No rust whatsoever.
Like any other car purchase, don't take it a "face value" - check it out.
fudge:
Bushes will be just as knakered as a 100,000 miler, rotten exhaust, perrished tyres / belts / bushes etc..... IMHO the they are just as "used" as high milers but obviously the shiney and oily buts will be fine....
Range Rover Blues:
If it's done a lot of short journeys the engine could be quite poorly, the TDI talkes a while to warm up and whilst cold the internals are all thw wrong shape and don't fit together right, plus the oil is sluggish and not doing it's job. 80% of engine wear occurs during start up.
If it's onbly been used at weekends or for the family holiday then it could be a real time-warp.
Look at what's in front of you, not what your were lead to expect.
Tony F:
Easy to spot if it's a Japanese re-import....
Look under the bonnet, all the stickers will be in Japanese
And if it still has the original LR radio, you will only be able to get Radio 2 as Japanese radio refequencies are much lower than ours and only overlap where Terry Wogan can be found :D
Apparently The Japanese don't use salt on their roads, have nowhere to really go off roading and as most of the population lives in cities, don't drive long distances.
If it is one of these they seem very good, a friend has one and it is in fantastic condition.
