Which Range Rover is best?

<< < (2/2)

BigSi:
I only thought of a Range Rover because my next-door neighbour had one many moons ago, and I though it was great. But I guess a 3.5 V8 discovery would also do the same job.

So which model Discovery would be best………I guess this takes me into the ‘Discovery’ section of the forum!!!  :D  :D  :D  :D

Range Rover Blues:
Discos are a tad more practical as a family car, a nats narrower and a bit taller/more top heavy but other than that a 200 series at least is just a poor man's Range Rover.

That said why not an EFi? go for the later hot-wire EFi and it's easier to fix than a dodgy carb, has more power and is easier to LPG convert.  The bnit that always stops a V8 in water is the dizzy anyway.

clbarclay:
I will agree with RRB about carbs about easier to fix, a friend runs carbs on his v8 disco and has had a whale of a time trying to get them to fuel right, especially as they have KN air filters fitted direct to the carbs which changes the required setup of the carbs. To setup a carb well useually involves a rolling road and a combination of educated guesses/trial and error with setup and needle selection (SU carbs) to get right.

Once they run well they work well, but same friend has switched to EFI for his hybrid challange truck.

Personally I would go range rover for a non road worthy toy as there are a number of very cheap RRC (useually bobtail) on ebay just rigth for pay play fun and useually already fitted with some off road bits like very aggressive tyres.

Bear in mind though, the cheaper they come the rustier they get. A good basic roll cage/hoop may be a worthy assest as some of the ebay specials look like they have no strength left in the body.

Thanks guys, lots to think about!!  :-k  :-k  :-k  :-k
