Which Range Rover is best?
BigSi:
Hi there.
After a little bit of advice. Thinking of buying a cheep Range Rover some time in the future (finances allowing!), to do some really muddy off-roading. I basically want something which is easy to maintain, and preferably without much electrical bits on. I was thinking of the 3.5 V8 engine (don’t want any injection), but without any air suspension or any other fancy bits. It would probably be stripped right down, and carried on a trailer behind the Jeep.
So what model, year, etc can you guys suggest would be best suited for this?
Remember K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid!)

Sorry but that won't work - there is an unwritten rule to NEVER EVER tow a Range Rover with a Jeep - even on a trailer

You'll never get a definaitive answer to that!
I'd say keep it simple and basic. 3.5 with carbs and manual gearbox on springs. Sophistication just causes complication!
And if your bothered about looks you can't beat an original two door (bobtailed of course!)

ps v8kenny is right, i wouldn't tow it with a jeep, so you better buy two one to tow and one to play with!

He's not joking!!!
Why a rangerover though? the older ones are starting to get a bit rarer and it seems a shame to cut up another one!
Why not go for a cheap V8 Discovery? they are selling on Ebay on a regular basis and its not so bad stripping one of them and they are just as good off road (remember they are basically a rangerover!!)
