Jimbo:
Pinion seal / input seal - where the prop bolts onto the rear diff, mine's leaking oil at a fair rate, is it a straight forward job to replace the seal ?

Hmmm, you mean the 'Workshop' link from the home page ? - I just get a totally blank/white screen when I click on it, tried refreshing the page a couple of times, still nothing..........is the workshop offline maybe ?

chuggaman:
once you have got the prop nuts off it is easy job...the pinion nut has to be tightened with a high torque though.i think about 95 lbs but dont quote me.

clbarclay:
Just checked, my workshop manual (RRC but same differance) says 95 to 163 Nm.

I just did it up to 100 Nm (as high as my torque wrench goes) and then round to the next castalation on the nut so I could fit get the plit pin in.

To get the nut undone on mine I used a replica of the land rover special tool made from scrap steel and had a 3/4 inch drive socket with a long bar/pipe coming up through the floor (the advantage of still renevating the cars back end) to losen it.
