Pully removal

(1/3) > >>

MuddyMachine:
I have just fitted a 200 disco engine to my 90. I need to change the cam belt as I don't know the history.

I have been trying for three hours to get the bottom pulley off (crank shaft)
It just wont come off. Am I missing something or do you just take off the big bolt and then pull it off.

I have tried using a puller, heat and lots of penetrating oil.

Any ideas?

wizard:
Should be just the big bolt in the center.
Have you tried the puller and heat at the same time. Someone might have put a bit of locktite on !!!!

wizard

spinkster:
heat on the end of the crank??? is that advisable considering how well heat travels?

extreme90:
if the bolts off and it wont budge with a puller then its been loctited on
when i take them off i apply pressure with the puller
warm it up rapidly with the bottle and give it a sharp belt with a bar and lump hammer
usualy sorts the job out
dan

MuddyMachine:
I have done all that   just wont come off. I left it dripping in penetrating oil and will have another go tomorrow.

Cheers all
