Has anyone used these,they look quite aggresive ,suggesting they could be good in the mud,any comments please  before i buy

Hi bombx3,my Mate got a set a few months ago, I think there a very good tyre for the money.

we went off roading a few weeks ago,it was very muddy indeed, they performed very well, plus the 85s give you a few extra inches clearance too and it never got stuck once.

Infact  I was that impressed, I have just bought a set of 235//85 /16:lol:

Some firends had them, but haven't been off road with them for a year to compare them recently against aggresive retreads othe than grizzlies.

IIRC they are speed rated at some very low speed compared to other aggressive retreads. It depends a bit on the terrain you drive on, but some people comment on them being poor on side slopes. My impression is they were more of a bog tyre where you want a tyre to paddle rather than slippy/muddy grass where you want a tyre like SATs of simex that dig down for traction.

They are a good off-road tyre but a bit scary driving on wet tarmac though.

Waste of cash, dont bother.

They are without doubt the worst tyres Ive ever owned. They are poor everywhere except in thick gloopy mud. Not Recommended.
PS Ive got a 265/75-16 brand new, and 2 worn with mebbe 8-10 mm tread for sale.
Go on....cut me in half........it says SUZUKI all the way thru the middle!!

Hi Ray...

Nicks been using them on that bobtailed discovery of his.. They seemed alright but were a bit schetchy on rocks and even more so on the tarmac...  I suppose it depends on the mud, but as you know ours is very very claggy.. andd they dont seem to like that much...

I think he has ended up going down the Insa special track line, mainly cos they are the same price but they seem to perform better all round..

yeah i would say depends what your doing

found them great in the mud ,  i did break a rear half shaft for the first time with them on ,  i didnt have them on a landie

Hi Chris i want them mainly for grassy slimey fields and some playing ,not much road use.My greenway chagos are not good they dig down to much

This is a noval concept to me. I've never come across a tyre that digs too much on slimey grass. The place were aggressive digging tyres are a problem useually is boggy and sandy ground where there isn't better ground to dig down.

That is exactly the sort of ground i am on at this time of year.But in the winter it is just softer and you need a tyre that is as near as a tractor tyre as possible to get across it.

maxi 3ds then (and i don't mean the girly maxi trials). Think they are the closest to tractor style chevon pattern but still road legal.

Seriously wouldn't go for anaconda's though, that pattern seems to work well in big sizes but in 235/85 etc you'll probably find your chaco's better.

Really then should you require a non road tyre but nothing but all in all grip then well don't you get a set of maxicrosses.

Although a 7.00 or a 7.50 X 16 being a narrow tyre will dig down better to the firmer stuff below rather than a wider tyre being sat on top of the slime and not getting anywhere. And as above the only prop with a digging tyre is that on boggy ground they will continue digging untill you end up bellied out.

should you want a 235 tyre then.....
The ITST is really a truely a great tyre and i have seen these walking through places that has had other makes working hard to maintain traction.

I think he means Insa the special track is the one to go for. But if you want a tractor type tyre and its not going on the road why not have dumper tyres?

I'd go for the Insa Turo Special Track.  Same tread pattern as Simex Centipede.  From what I have heard they are well behaved both on & off road.

It was a ford on the military ring road at Okehampton during the bad weather on Ten Tors weekend.  It's usually only about a foot deep  :shock:

I'm off to Norway for a few weeks but maybe we can catch up in August for playing in the lanes?

if you want something like a tractor tyre then the insa turbo special track (smiex copy) is the next best thing, its basicaly a tractor tyre that has been adapted to be made legal for competition use , i.e not a open tread pattern

also there cheap too, can get a set and still have pleanty of change from 300 notes

got them on my 90,been running them for nearly a year & wouldnt have any other tyres except for a 38" bogger (cos it looks cool) or a 35" simex
