XJ standard ride hight??
« on: June 25, 2007, 11:14:15 »
Hi all,

i wan to put a 3" lift on my XJ but it has already got "heavy duty springs" according to the garage i bought it from and it does seam to sit a bit higher than stock.

i was hoping some one could tell me a way of knowing if it has been lufted at all already :?:

the on;y idea i came up with was to measure from the ground to the top of the wheel arches? so i am hopeing some fellow XJ owners will have done this and know the hight of a stock XJ so i can compare it to mine :)

As it stands a t the moment the front arches are 30.5" high and the rears are 31.0".

the object of the lift was to fit some bigger wheels. So i was thinking    maybe i already had enough to increasae in size :?:

Many thanks
lucky

The factory measurements, if my memory is correct are 17.5" for the front and 17" for the rear, taken from the centre of the wheel hub to the bottom of the wheel arch flare.

These are for the petrol models; I think the diesel is an inch higher at the rear due to the heavier duty springs.

I've got HD springs on mine and 1.75" shackles and it sits about 2 inches higher than standard.

Hope this helps.

In that case i dont think mine has much of a lift then :( both the fronts are 17.5" from the centre of the wheel and the bcak is about 18"

better start looking for a lift kit then ....

any one recomend a good kit  :?:

I can only go +3" as that in all my insurance company will alow    so i will have to go big on my tyres instead to  get some more lift

I think its the Rubicon Express kit that would be favorite if I were to fit my lift again.
The skyjacker rears springs seem to sag on a few when off roaded but 1/2 decent kit other than that.

The biggest tyres you can fit with a 3 inch lift are 31"

Same here. With that setup, i have 31" BFG AT's. However as they are 12.5" wide i would need to do some wheel arch trimming if i was going to seriously offroad it, but thats why i have the YJ!

There is a bit of a loss, but not too bad. Next on my list will be axles from a 2.5L Cherokee. They came with 4.10 diffs, whereas the 4.0L's came with 3.05's. That will put the power back to the ground again.
