I know about your MTBing Marc, as we've got a 'date' at Kippax in July :lol:
(unless you've forgotten)

As for me?
 I involve myself with........

Cycling;
Some of you may have read (or remember) my additions to the 'Fancy A New (push) Bike' thread started by 'Martha Focker'.
So you know that I've been back on them about a year (after a semi-enforced lay-off), and have been racing intermittantly (with mediocre results) since last September.

The racing is a branch of the sport called 'Cyclo-Cross' (for details ot what it's about, see; 'About' & 'Get Into')

I also ride on the road a lot, but ought to really do more :oops:

Running;
I only really started this as a 'back-up' to the cycling, as some Cyclo-Cross courses demand a bit of running.
I'm not really 'up there', but at present can manage a 'rolling' 5 &1/2 run in 40minutes, and have been told that that's a fairly good time at my training level/experience (unless they're humouring me???)

But..... I've entered a 5-miler that takes place in June, & want to be able to comfortably finish it in a decent-ish time (roughly between Darrington & Wentbridge)

Joanne (SWMBO) told me last November that she'd get back into training & run a race that I did at Bingley - it was 'Cyclists verses Harriers' - & beat me over the distance :-k :-k

Reading;
Rather varied tastes, no specific writer/genre, but a few are;
Bill Bryson
Stuart Maconie ('Pies & Prejudice'; great book :clap: )
HP Lovecraft (lost my copies during the last house move)
Michael Crichton ('AirFrame', 'Prey', 'TimeLine')

Biographies (examples; Johnny Cash, Lance Armstrong, 'David Copperfield')

Industrial Heritage books ('Great Stink of London', about the building of the sewerage system is superb)

Music;
Quite varied, but not much 'modern' stuff & definately no 'dance'/'drum & bass'!!!!!
Some favourites include; Steve Earle, Tindersticks, Bruce Springsteen, Dixie Chicks, Snow Patrol, Stray Cats, Alison Krauss, Coldplay, Leonard Cohen, Cocteau Twins, Catatonia, etc.........

Photography;
Mainly in support of my 'www', which now has almost 4,000 images on it!, and almost 340,000 hits :shock:

What I want to do;
I'd like to be able to play a few musical instruments properly
1. The Guitar, I want to be able to do justice to one of these :drool: :drool: :drool:

2. The Banjo. I used to have one, but never did it properly, it's due to a long liking for Bluegrass.

3. Double-Bass. But..... played as the 'slap-bass', again, a long liking for rockabilly does it!

Fighting, sort of a mix of Ju-Jitsu, Wing Chun, Escreda and just plain dirty tricks. Although the club has disbanded, so I need to find a new one.

Go bodyboarding and surfing (well twice but have my own board :doh: ) when I'm in cornwall.

Have had the intention of digging my MTB out since march, got as far as looking at it and going ermm! Getting a bit fat now so need to get of my butt and train more, so looks like running and MTB's will be back on the list.

Should add walking, but half the time I walk just because I'm to lazy (and tight) to use my car!

Well, as stated, I only started again last Easter,& I dropped 2 stone in roughly 10 weeks*!
I think I'm hovering about the 9'9" - 9'10" mark! (doesn't half help on the hills)

I even went for some new trousers in our Sewing/Linen Room at work, & was told "Sorry, we haven't got any with a 29" waist!!" (down from 32")

* Obviously, eating sensibly was the other cue.
No chocolate, fried food, sweets, etc....  (I'm tee-total & a non-smoker, so that part wasn't an issue for me)

Tommo:
Trail bikes, best thing in the world!
