Harness Question
smo:
Can FIA approved harnesses, with the "aircraft" style buckle be legally used on the road? Ie: do they have "E" marking as well?
Terranosaurus:
I beleive technically not and they should fail an MOT but most testers overlook this as they realise that in reality they are safer, something to do with not having an inertia but I think, safety devices do some that have an inertia reel that can be locked when offroad/competing.
smo:
Hmm, Any MOT/SVA testers confirm this oficially as i need to get it through SVA and dont want to fail on something like that!
Henry Webster:
I would think it would be worth checking with the harness manufacturers. In reality there are a lot of road registered competition cars fitted only with FIA type harnesses. Certainly I've never had a problem with MOTs, but I've not needed an SVA.
Might also be worth having a chat with your local SVA inspector. I am led to believe that they are generally pretty approachable and keen to help!

Cheers Henry, i'll try and contact the SVA centre for clarification and also hunt down a suitable harness, having frouble finding one with short rear straps that go round the roll cage bars as they are only 2" behind the seats!
