Where do you all keep your highlift jack?
« on: June 09, 2007, 15:28:28 »
Bought a 48" hi-lift jack from land rover world show today and was wondering where about i could keep it. At the moment it's wedged behind the front seats but i would like somehwere better to store it! I was thinking maybe drill through the bulkhead, anyway how do you all store yours?

i have mine where the clips are on the left wheel arch in the picture posted by muddymachine.  The seat over hangs it so its tucked away nicely.

I put mine inside just laid on the floor except when I go off roadin then it gets bolted (with a proper high lift kit) to the top of the roof at the rear. If I could find a pic of it I'd post one.
If theres a harder way to do it I`ll find it!!

On my 90 I had a swing away spare wheel carrier with a highlift mout.  On my 110 it's strapped to the roof rack.
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

I used to have mine mounted outside to the rear of the car. Not good for it so now inside on the rear of the bulkhead.

lengthways against the wheel arch in the back of the 90. Used a carrier from mill services. Had to cut a couple of inches so I could close the door though :-(

On the 110 it is bolted (and padlocked) to the roof tie down again using a jack carrier from mill services

In the shed!

In 20-years ownership I have used it once for recovery yet plenty of times in the garden (very good for lifting tree stumps out of the ground).

Mines bolted down along the rear wheel box. Same place in the racer too. It's indoors, so it's away from the elements and from the light-finger-fairies that seem to be too common these days!

Just a as quickie, does anyone esle realise the weight limit for the roof load on a Defender is about 75kg. Which, in theory, includes the roof rack as well. Makes you wonder!

Cheers

I have mine mounted on a tray that's welded to the rear crossmember - a padlock goes through the two to stop some scrote from swiping it. The clamp on the bodywork came with the jack.

I have mounted mine up on the roof rack, using mounts bought from the same company I got the jack from (I forget which one)

The height is ok for me, with 2" lift and my new mahoosive tyres, a person of smaller stature might struggle to get it down...

I have a triple gun rack mounted on my dog guard, it drops perfectly into one set of clips and is quick n easy to remove when needed .. will post pics later..
