Gasket sets etc.????????

(1/2) > >>

Mutz:
Right, whats in a bottom gasket set?
And whats in a top gasket set?
Will i then need a front gasket set and a rear?
I know head gaskets are seperate (got problem with that as i havnt got ANY holes to ID it)
Should get block back tomorrow from having camshaft bearings fitted.
300tdi engine, completly stripped and i need to totaly rebuild, i.e. need all new gaskets and seals.
Was going to buy from Paddocks along with new main shells, big ends and thrust washers(leaving piston rings as they appear fine) they dont list the bolts!!!
All shells etc are fine so am i safe getting the same size's?
Or is there somewhere i can get the complete set?

well, while the engine is apart, why dont you hone the bores and fit new rings,
shells, if the crank hasnt be re ground then you'll need std size

af for gaskets, dunno i just buy individualy by name as the gasket you need is bound not to be in the kit

extreme90:
o.. and fit a new oil pump
dont re-use the old one just cos it pumps oil, it could be worn out

Mutz:
The bores are perfect, no wear ridge no damage nothing. would rather leave well alone.
As for the gaskets, thats what i was afraid of. didnt want to waste my money on a kit to find it didnt have everything i need.
Pump is something i intend to replace anway, its not the simplest of things to get to once engine back in.

extreme90:
fair doo's on the bores/rings....everyone is to there own, if it was me id be replacing them    and re-crosshatching the bore,
i'd get at least 1 ring set tho ( assuming that the pistons are removed) incase one fractures or breaks when re-fitting
