Gasket sets etc.????????

<< < (2/2)

Mutz:
are all original engines, std. or are there .010, .020 etc. fitted originally?

Mutz:
Cross hatching still visable in bores, if thats what you meen.
also pistons are .020 hence my other question

Porny:
Headgasket wise.... if the pistons haven't changed, then it will still be the 'no hole' gasket, which I can't remember the part number for off the top of my head.

Or.. if you want to do it properly (and make sure you have the correct gasket fitted at the moment), measure the piston to deck height and fit the correct head gasket (choice of four - 1 hole, 2 hole, 3 hole and 'no' hole - which was a later addtion by LR)

Don't just do what a lot of people do and wrongly fit the thickest one - as they don't understand why there are four different gaskets.

Personnally... I only buy gaskets from LR... slightly more expensive, but worth it IMHO.

The top gasket set (also called a decoke set) comes with the exhaust/inlet manifold gasket, new valve stem oil seals, thermostat housing, injector seal copper washers, rocker cover gasket and bolt seals... and a few other bits and from a dealer is about the £40 mark.

A head gasket is around £22

I know as I've just ordered all the kit   (but I get a discount, and can't remember the normal retail prices)

They also do a bottom end seal kit, but I can't remember everything that is in it... but should be all the gaskets/seals you need (apart from possibly the front cover gasket and crank seal)
