winch service

hi all. i was wondering if anyone knows where i could get a champion winch serviced and repaired in hampshire....i have taken it apart and couldnt find the problem....so think it needs someone who knows about these things to take a look

i think we have it sussed thanks mate....... the winch had stopped winching in and out. it wouldnt spool in either direction.. you would press the button on the remote and it would just click. after talking with a few peeps who know what they are looking at we have discovered its the solinoids that are at fault......


so now its time to find a albright .... :wink:

a click in both directions ?
both sets of solenoids dont fail together, usauly the power in ones go,
sounds to me like either the motor has died, got water in or you have got a poor earth to the solenoids themselves

have you got the winch motor earthed direct to the battery, not through chassis,
also you need a negative wire from the negative lead that should go to the motor linking upto the solenoid pack to grond them out aswel

i doubt its the solenoids at fault as for the reason above

hi mate.....yeah its in both directions..... i do have an earth from solinoids to motor and then up to neg on battery.

this afternoon i was getting a click in both directions.....i tapped the top of the solinoids eventully it spooled......but when i took my finger off the button it stopped and wouldnt start again...just click.... it was the same in both diections....


i did this a couple of times before it stopped completly.....ie it now just clicks..... and wont spool no matter how i tap the solinoids.... :(  :(



 the motor was quite clean inside..... here are a few pics







thsi was after taking it apart to have look. i sprayed electrical cleaner all over the brushes....but to be honest they were spotles  :wink:
