I am almost sure (well our club dose) a MSA club will need you to hold a full driving license.

AWDC and most good MSA affiliated clubs run Tyro trials - minimum age is 14 years as far as I know there are no stipulations for size of cars - I've seen at least one 14yo driving a shogun.

I agree with the above. We run tyros in our club. According to the MSA rulebook, 14 and over can drive any vehicle on a trial section, while supevised. No driving licence is req'd.

One other point worth noting is that the vehicle can only be moved between sections by a licensed driver.

officialy most trials are considered off-road by those who make decisions, and as such it is down to induvidual organisers to decide who can and cannot be permitted to use their trials. Anyone may drive any vehicle of any size, capacity, etc, off-road

Welshbreed - I think that you'll find most trials are run under MSA regs and they do stipulate age limits but I'm pretty sure a 14 year old is nothing uncommon at AWDC trials. We had a whole gang of them in our area and they beat the pants off plenty of adults.

Again I don't believe there is any limit on vehicle size and while most of ours drove Suzukis that wa sbecause they were easy to get, cheap and worked well.

I'm pretty certain that's the case as well,  Our club certainly runs in accordance with MSA rules

Red Rose LRC hold TYRO trials to ARC & MSA regulations & 14 year olds can enter a TYRO trial so long as accompanied by an adult.
At an Easter TYRO trial we had one young girl driving her fathers brand new '07 plate Freelander. :)

Jim at the above runs driver training I think he takes 14 year olds, nice bloke, very high standard of training, good course some easy bits some very difficult.
He also runs pay and play days
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it
