spinkster:
i dont think i had hydraulic lock the engine just slowed, refused to rev then just stopped.....the turbo was shot to bit but the guy who rebuilt it said it was because of oil starvation....i thought that was maybe because of water getting into the oil and making it too thick to pump....plus it was cold too cos of being sat in water.......oh and i have a breather pipe on the timing housing luckily!
ian_s:
my dad hydraulicked his astra, and that just slowed to a stop after he was well clear of the water. bent all 4 rods in the engine.
extreme90:
if it slowed and refused to rev then stop id say its injested water into the cylinders and locked itself,
turbo wise, if waters got in there then the water would have been dispursing the oil, so another words oil starvation
so did you have the pug in the bottom of the timing case ??
theres a bolt that should go in just behind the crank pulley
if it was me id be removing the head, as its done more damage than you may think
diesels and water dont mix when its injested as the compression just trashes the engine
