who remembers the X pack?

banditman:
It's all starting to make sense now....

I have a 3ltr Capri Engine in my Series 3 and a 0 to 60 time of 83 seconds sound about spot on !!

V8MoneyPit:
I'll apologise in advance for this.... sorry.......I am about to go into geek mode!

The company that did the original X pack bodykits for Ford was in Basildon and called Fibresports. I think they still exist. I have a catalogue from them here and it was still listing X pack amongst others in the mid 90's. I've got the blurb for the Capri Mk2 and 3 X 'Zakspeed', Escort Mk2 and RS2000 X pack and even the Fiesta Mk1 Z pack. They went on to produce a revised kit on commission by a car magazine. They called it the Double X.

Ah, memories!

Range Rover Blues:
The X-Packs were a host of add-on toys, available through RS dealers, which included the extra-wide body.

V8MoneyPit:
Thats right. Road wheels, steering wheels, gear knobs, etc. Not sure where those parts were sourced, but Fibresports were the approved manufacturer of the bodykits. If the company still exists, I'm sure they'd still make a kit if anyone wanted a retro Ford
