Help Needed - No Drive
extreme90:
its a R380
drain the oil off the transfer box and see what comes out,
always thought they cured the mainshaft ware for the R380 and that its only the lt77 that suffered
dan
L90OOK:
It was the transfer box that caused the wear as the input shaft starved the gearbox output shaft of oil. Therefore this caused fretting corrosion & wear on the gearbox output shaft splines & eventually total loss of drive.
The solution was a cross drilled input shaft in the tranfer box allowing oil to flow around the gearbox output shaft splines.
I think early R380 setups still suffered with this wear & ofcourse any highbrid not having this mod will suffer too.
Was there allot of backash/clunking when changing gear/on & off the power before it lost drive?
The only way to check is to remove the pto cover & have a good look, or split the gearbox & transfer box. :?
Big Watty:
Check the drive flanges and half shaft end at the wheel
ian_s:
did you try it in difflock with the front axle still connected?
from what you said at first, it seems that you disconnected the front axle before testing owt. it could be just the rear axle thats gone
check and see which propshafts turn when you try and drive forward
CookieMonster:
right, took the pto cover off and put it in drive, main shaft turned and engaged transfer cog, so its not that.
Took off the transfer box sump and it was full of metal swarf so i thought i had mashed the transfer box, nope, that looks ok.
So, looked at centre diff as best i could, yes, sheared teeth off it, so new centre diff it is, and a transfer box to make sure, dont know what damage the metal swarf has done in there.
