Help Needed - No Drive

(1/2) > >>

CookieMonster:
whilst out playing on monday i lost all drive. There was a clunking noise, like something was slipping, occasionally i would get drive, but would soon loose it again, whilst still in gear. We took off front hub caps and took off front prop thinking i had blown my front diff, put it in diff lock then tried driving and i still had nothing, no drive at all. It goes in gear spot on still, and the clutch was only done about 3 month ago, 3000 miles on it maybe less now.

I think it may be my transfer box, or centre diff, poss something in the rear axle.

Anyone have any ideas??? seriously stuck for whats wrong with it.

AbyssDJ:
if its still not going anywhere in diff lock then its got to be something before that... does it refuse to go in any gear? tried it in both high and low range?

edit - that could of course include the center diff itself by the way

L90OOK:
Take the pto cover off your transfer box & have a look at the output  shaft of your g/box...my guess is the output shaft splines of your g/box have shredded. :?

extreme90:
ill 2nd L90OOK
but also make sure that it is actualy in gear on the t/box and isnt jumping out, as that would clunk and grind

either you've been real unlucky and popped 2 diffs in 1 hit which i doubt

or somethings amiss in the transfer box

drain the oil off and see what comes out

if you dont no where the pto cover is, its located to the side of the handbreak drum, and is round in shape with 6 ( afink) bolts holding it on, when you remove make sure you've got some rag to mop the oil up that wil dribble out

dan

CookieMonster:
doesnt refuse to go in any gear, high or low.

I'm beginning to think its my main shaft splines worn, which would mean a rebuild or new box, and transfer box.

Its the R380 box of reverse is under 5th isnt it???
