Not happy

lyndon:
My TD5 has just spent two weeks with the dealer I bought it off having lots of work done on it. One job was to fix a leaking sunroof. The drainage pipe on the front passenger side had sheared off of the sunroof assembly.

Guess what, things leaking just as bad as it was 2 weeks ago. I am now thinking that I need to get this done by a specialist and bill the dealer for the work. 2 weeks was far too long even for the list of jobs they had to do. Oh and by the way the sunroof also sticks now which it didn't before.

The part thats broken is right on the front nearside corner of the sunroof ass. There is a black plastic square with a pipe that comes from it which drains out of the car on that side. It looks like the plastic corner is mastic sealed on. There is a small piece of plastic pipe which comes out of this like a spigot which the drainage pipe pushes onto this has snapped off. Does anyone know if this can be replaced or is it the whole sunroof that needs doing?.

suggs:
the leaking sun roof is a common problem, mine does it after very heavy rain..

datalas:
Thanks for the reminder,  must remember when to take my rain hat when I go out later

lyndon:
Yes I agree it is a common problem, but not when its a faulty part which has been back to the dealer fopr repair. I have just stripped the headlining and found that they have just done a botch job on it. Masitc everywhere. My parting words to them when I left it for repair was, don't just stick aload of mastic all over it as as soon as it goes off road it will leak. They promised to put either a replacement part or sunroof in. Not happy, the headlining is now water stained.

I am going to add to their mastic after taking a few photos and then get it done properly next week. Arthur Daily could of done a better job in 2 weeks !!

Budgie:
If it's being done under warrenty then I would leave it alone until you've spoken to them.
Remind them of your instructions and inform them that they have only done a botch job, not a repair, and give them the chance to fix it.
Even contact Land Rover Customer Service if it's a Land Rover fanchised dealer and tell them about the problem and the quality of work carried out.

Don't get someone else to do the job before the dealer has give the go-ahead otherwise you will, most likely, be stuck with the repair bill and no warrenty on it for any future problems!

Oh, and if the headlining is now stained because of their workmanship then get them to replace that as well!!
