Yarr,
there be lots of nautical nattering going on on this here thread, shiver me timbers, splice the mainbrace, weigh anchor and keel haul the cabin boy!
I can't see what the attraction is going out all day and coming back smelling of fish! Mind you, I used to work in Great Yarmouth, which had much the same effect!

Your real name isn't captain Pugwash by any chance.

Hi Dan

I have had the yamaha for 7 years now worked it hard and serviced it regularily so far so good looks like new and runs like a dream.

A trailer would have cost at least a couple of grand so it was out of the question.

Second hand ones are usually past their sell by date.

I don't need to move the boat for long distances so I'm not fussed about any high speck stuff it's mainly to store her on and get her in and out of the water which is no more that a few miles away.

So long as she runs and stops I can't ask for much more. I will make 2 axles and have 4 indespension units "galvanised ones which are ready to bolt on.

Shes 1.5 ton all up with life rafts etc so the trailer will have a double beam

both runners 4mm thick steel so hopefully things will fit ok.

I'll give you a shout when things get out of hand. :?

the older 2 stokes were ok, but the 4 strokes and expecialy the new ones are like me arse

the 50 hp 4 strokes had 5 carb changes in 5 years

and all the 97/98 50's that we supplied new have thrown rods now thats 18 engines

18 scrap yams
and servieced every year by us, complete n utter doggy doo

and honda's dont get me started on them

I'm sure you've had some good fishing off the back. Good luck with the build.

That one needs a bit more than that. Twin Volvo pentas, lots of turbos, and bags of Hoss Power. And bucket loads of cash to pour into the fuel tanks!

Mate has a 34 footer (I think) with twin XJ12 engines, man does it shift.... and needs its own oil tanker :) Certainly falls into the plastic gin palace catagory, but then, if you can afford it...

Dont think I have ever owned a Yamaha or Honda outboard. The Mercurys were a dream, never had any real aggro with them that wasnt my fault. Penta 40 on the first boat was a nightmare and went through coil packs like nothing else and the Evenrude 25 that replaced it never ran right :( Always was an utter pig to start. Little mariner 5hp emergency engine was great though, spent most of it's time upside down, freesing, dunked and generally mistreated and always started second pull.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

thats a strong hedge you have it resting on at the moment.

How long are your rods? Must be quiet hard to get the hooks to land in the water from there but catching 365 in a day obviously means you have got the nack of it!!

Ah RIBs, nice to see someone with taste. Good in the rough, no silly cabins to hide in when it gets wet, proper boating!

Got into RIBs myself through diving, though not done either since I moved to Wales, just not had the time :( (or the money!)

I don't know who these lucky people are - i just found the picture on the interweb.

The Rib is a Rib-Eye - once made in Dartmouth now made in South Africa for the cheap labour.

The picture was taken just above Dittisham on the River Dart The house on the hill in the background is Sandridge House former home of Captain John Davis who gave his name to the Davis Straights in America.

From the wash the rib is probably exceeding the 6 knot river speed limit so I suspect it is a publicity photo which would mean the people in it don't own the boat and don't have a snowballs chance in hel of ever affording one.

Hope you enjoyed the useless trivia

That certainly looks good matey, not sure of the colour though. Its not really, well, you know, sort of art house. Perhaps a pastel shade of green, with darker undertones? :D
