Hi,
I know the budget of one of the bike riders from Finnland, Peer Ulevalsetter.
He took part in the Daker in the last few years and to seriously take part and hope to see the finish you have to have a minimum budget of 100000.-Euros
Roughly 75.000.-quit
This is for Bike, assistance, spares, food, clothes iritrak rental, GPS rental.
If you roll that out for a bowler up this to 120000.- quit.
We followed the Daker last year, 2006 on the first two stages in Morokko with our bikes. Or put it this way it took us two days to follow them on one stage ;-)
You have to be good, really good and a you must have the habbit of running a marathon to digest a snack, if you know what I mean
Try one of the smaller amateur events first, the Tuareg Rally, the El Chott or the Berlin Breslau.
cheers
Stefan

And now would also be an oppotunity to mention Britains round of the FIA International Cup for Cross Country Bajas 8)
The stage is approximately 90km long and there is a National/Clubman event running parallel. Get that car together Edge, there's a race to be had!
Next round of the British Off-road Championship is up at Castle O'er, Lockerbie - past Dakar drivers and support crew will be there. 8)
Getting 'em talking is easy. Getting to stop - now, that's the trick!
Cheers
