Right... fitted new headlights at the West Midlands Service day... didn't check they worked as they should... after all... just a couple of electrical plugs to unplug/replug...

Mistake!

Engine running...

Sidelights on - missing drivers side dim headlight
Headlights on - passenger side flickers to almost orange
Main beam on - headlights go to dim!

erm.... any suggestions...?!

Connectors have been checked and are firmly seated.

First thing I'd try is connecting a second earth to the headlamp connectors, if that doesn't do anything try bypassing the dim-dip resistor on the bulkhead (turbo side) - looks like a small bronze/brass colour block.

you may think you have seated them properly ,but 300 lights have poo poo connections ,i have to really wiggle mine to get them to work right  :? chrisw had to replace his connectors

Any Christmas tree effects are usually bad earths, but mine went a bit wobbly when I changed my headlight too, echo that about rubbish connections!
1995 Discovery 300 Tdi...steering guard, diff guards, +2" full lift kit/ProComp 9000s, extended braided brake hoses, 265/75/16 MTs on Freestyles, Camel Cut, Team ME4 CB, Southdown snorkel, Defender A-bar and Wipac 4x4s, Forte treatment in anything that moves and a shiny new boot floor!
