Welshbreed:
A friend of mine, not on the forum, has a lightweight (with 90 chassis cut down), anyway he was driving into a multistory car park in swansea, and it had one of those hight restricotrs. can't remember the size it restricted however, anyway, he forgot to remove his roofrack the night before, and plowed into this one ripping one side from the ground. Cant remember if he had to pay damages, but the landie survived, the rack has a small dent on one side.

Just thought id mention it

Bush Tucker Man:
Our local one has the barrier, I think it's set at 2 metres??
The Discovery went under it easily, the 110 doesn't, so they have to open it up.

To top it all I went one Saturday & was refused entry, as the chap said they don't open it on a weekend
How daft is that?
If I'd been feeling combative, I might have parked in the gateway & asked for management to be called in, & let the queue keep building up behind me

(no wonder fly-tipping is on the increase in the area, Leeds Council is far more enlightened - they take everything with no limits on private dumping)

Wakefield MDC Waste Service

They also limit trailers to 6' x 4' (unless it's hired & you've got the agreement with you)
A guy who used to work there even went as far as measuring the trailers & was known to turn people away!!!
My Ifor-Williams was 6'6" long, so you can imagine the scenes I had   (it was their smallest model at the time, I went as far as taking a brochure with me showing the dimensions)

Quote from the 'Permit page
'If you drive a van, pick up or trailer (trailers above 6ft x 4ft) you must obtain a commercial permit before visiting your local HWRC.
These permits allow you to visit the HWRC up to 12 times each year.

All centres except the Wakefield HWRC have height barriers, site attendants are permitted to open these barriers every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as long as you have the correct permit'

So it appears that I can't go to the tip on Monday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

It's a pity as their biggest sites entrance is only a mile away, where we lived before it was easier to go to the Temple Newsham site (Leeds Council)

seriously though, they are people doing jobs, they don't make the Policy, they just try and do their job. If you have a beef take it to the council. Simple as... Council are there to serve the community.

They do their jobs and a bit more than that.  You may find the odd item you thought was worthless ends up suddenly going on sale at a place near you. *hint hint*
