--- Quote from: "TRUG2" ---Police are requesting vehicle crime victims not to go near the vehicle so that they can send forensics teams to collect evidence  Yeah-Right, there aint enough of them to police major towns as it is.... how are they gonna manage to attend the vast amounts of vehicle crimes in major cities?

totally pointless with most land rovers anyway,
Mate had a load of his work stuff knicked from his land rover, he's tree surgin so chain saw's and stuff.
Police tunred up, couldn't take any forensics as the thief had taken the mud away on his hands rather than leaving any,
so make sure your cars are nice and clean if you want them to do this,
His wasn't that muddy, just winter driving!!!

--- Quote from: "Boggert" ---Sorry it bugs me a bit we are paid to save you backsides not kiss them. I've been spat at, kicked, threatened, had a gun pointed at me the list goes on and on... the reason I do it is because every now and then I make a difference.
We are not perfect but we do the best we can and sometimes we are tasked to do things, like it or not.

I have a best mate that was called to a potential Fatality, little metro scrunched up into a lil ball after being clouted by a van. He sat there while the paramedics tried to get the poor girl out and they were talking about the fact that it was very unlikeley she'd even make it to Southampton General.
Only to find out it was his daughter!
Thankfully she survived, no-one thought she would but she did and she's as right as rain now, well a little bit madder than she was but its hard to tell with some people :)
As for the rest, crime has gone up, resources have been reduced, the NHS and Police have had to bend over and take it and ecah time some little crote gets away with it they realise they can push things a little further. You guys need to be dealing with the real crime rather than the poor guy that got done for dropping a wotsit just so you can make the stupid quotas. I think people are well aware that the issue is resource starvation and not you guys on the front line. I know morale suffers on the front line when you dont have the time and ability to respond to things that you know need to be dealt with where as some nameless manager is telling you that theres no point.
I think probobly one of the things Mr Tony is going to be remebered for us utterly shafting public services.

Hold on, guys. It is not fair to blame the bobbies on the beat for decissions over which they have little, if any, say.
Blame the Police Authoritys, the Chief Constables and their primadonna staff, or blame the bloody Home Office pen-pushers and politicians.
At least we should acknowledge that, given the resources they are given and the limitations they are imposed, the foot soldiers of the Police do their utmost best (there are exceptions, but in most cases they do) to carry their duty.

Staffs?
Staffs certainly in SOT Division have Civvy Forensic vehicle examiners who do just that all day long. There are also some bobbies trained of which I'm one.
Other forces will differ as do Division's within Forces.
Boggert:
We've done the SOCO course for car crime. It helps some times.
