Blakey:
Hey everyone need to pick ur brains for a minute. hope you dont mind!

Got a disco 300tdi. Im wanting to beef it up a natts

so far ive got steering gaurd, diff gaurds and the front bumper has been trimmed for a better approach.

I have yet to get snorkel and tree sliders, but the main problem is which tyres to get! Im on a budget so BFG's are a long shot but i have been looking at insa turbo dakars which seem the same to me but at half the price. Are these up to the job or are there any better boots out there!
BTW wanting to stick to standard size so no camel cuts!

Oh and if anyone think ive missed something off my list im all ears!

Ta very much :D

thermidorthelobster:
Definitely decent tyres should be next, they'll make a lot more difference than steering guard / diff guards etc to your off-road capabilities.  You'd be better spending the money on a decent set of tyres and saving the snorkel and sliders until later.

suggs:
Insa Turbo special track, superb off road and ok on road, there Simex copys.

clbarclay:
When pricing up BFG tyres bear in mind how much longer they will last compared to tyres half the price and how much they will be worth if you sell them before there worn out compared to retreads.

Unless you have a second set of tyres for the road then you probably won't want anythink more aggresive than a BFG MT pattern tyre.

thermidorthelobster:
Good point Chris.  My BFG ATs have done about 45,000 miles, including a couple of thousand across desert, and amazingly they've still got more than half the tread left.  That's a ridiculously large amount of wear out of a tyre.
