Whats it worth?
« on: May 10, 2007, 19:45:46 »
I have been offered a 24volt series 3 long wheel base van type poss ex mod and a new mot will be put onto it, it has only done about 150miles in last year as it gets started, goes round corner of farm on hard standings to get a few logs then back again so about a 2mile journey each month! starts on the button (so I have been told).

I have been told the chap only wants £500 for it. bargain or not? sorry no photos this time. If I remember camera next time I will take some pics.

and it isnt vat exempt and a 2 1/4 petrol

With an mot maybe a grand depending on how tidy it is, the short journeys won't have done it any good, the exhaust will probably be rotting and need replacing soon as it won't have got up to temperature and dried out.  Without an mot maybe 100quid as it's not tax exempt.

Have a good look/poke around the chassis/bulkhead (especially the outriggers & cross members) etc & take it for a good long run. If it dont fall to bits its worth what he's asking.

What its worth is whatever you're willing to pay for it! Depending on condition and based on what you've described anywhere between £100 and £900, maybe a grand tops. Check the usual areas as said above ^^^

And be careful with 24v as some parts can be VERY expensive to replace especially for the V8 motor.....points at £22.50+VAT a set anyone?

Have a poke around it and think what needs doing accordingly. But th final question is how much do you want it???! :)
