Would an izuzu 2.8 turbo diesel fit into my 90 N/a diesel and how easy would it be to put in? Wpuld it need any welding and would it match up to the gearbox? Anyone done it before, or have any advice?

Yes it possible, as for further info....youll have to wait until someone who has done it comes along.

Common probs with engine changes are exhause and intake manifolds, engine mounts, gearbox conversion plates to allow mounting and electrics if it has any :)

MIght be easier to use the Isuzu gearbox and trandfere too if the outputs are on the right side for a landy. Lot easier to have a couple of custom props made up than to mess about with gearbox adaptor plates and custom clutches etc. Plus the gearing will be matched to the engines characteristics too.

I'd get an insurance quote before you fit the engine!!
- some insurance companies don't like non 'Land Rover' engine conversions - especially considering your age...

And there is the problem that spares won't be avaliable off the shelf...

And your LR will never be worth as much - compared to if you properly fitted a 200 or 300Tdi

Hmm i shall see what adrian flux have to say! But the parents will be paying for it
Yer i gathered parts are expensive but when the enginge are so cheap i could just buy a couple of spare ones!
I'm not really planning on selling my 90 i'd like to take it to uni with me so need something good for distance which is why i've looked into them as i don't really have means of getting the money for a tdi    Whereas these give decent fuel and can go 70 easily.
But there appears to be not many conversions into a 90! I found this though..

My advice is don't bother,i've been down this road, stick another LR engine in and make life simple.
