hot prop shaft

hi fitted a second hand prop shaft in very good condition to my 200tdi defender 90 had probs with vibration from day one it has got worse so i climbed under to have a look both ujs are sound but are very hot to the touch also the propshaft is hot within 6 inches of ujs. rear prop shaft is fine eny ideas why this should happen would be appreciated ...Iain

Have they been greased? how close is the exhuast? is the heat transfering from the gearbox?

hi they have been greased and are in good condition the transfer box and front diff are cool to touch it is just the ujs and 6inch of prop shaft ajoining it is almost to hot to touch after only 5 miles    thanks for the reply  Iain

id check the grease again... sounds like theres something binding somewhere? is the prop itself greased?
