few problems with my rangy....

(1/3) > >>

greatbignath:
firstly i have lost all lights apart from main beam, front drivers side sidelight, brake lights, number plate lights and indicators...... any ideas, is this a comon problem or am i special.

and it dont like going into reverse, i think this might be linked to the large whinning noise when in movment in any gear at any speed. how do i tell what gearbox i have? it is manual, with a transit lump if this helps.....

and last of all it goes wherever the fook it wants. its all i can do to keep it on the black stuff let alone betwean the white lines!!!!! would this be the track rods or bushes or both?

Yoshi:
Ok, i am no mechanic so most of this is probably wrong!  Have you checked the fuses for the lights?  Most common fault along with bulbs.

Gearbox thing i have no idea about.

Steering thing sounds like drop arm ball joint.

Range Rover Blues:
Lordy that sounds like a project you have there mate.

Lights, well you don't say what yuear so i can't say if there are any relays in there but to only have main beam sounds like fuses, the feed tot he dip switch comes form the combined side/head light switch on the column (on mine).

Revers is sticky, hm try bleeding the clutch and you can adjust the clutch pedal throw too with an eccentric on the pedal.  Check gearbox oil level/

Whining? oil level again perhaps?

Vague steering.  Is it lifted?

With the car stationary open the drivers window and reach in, wiggle the steering wheel and watch the offside road wheel,  If it flicks left and right then good, if the whloe car slews left and right then bad (panhard rod bushes), if nothing happens then very bad, balljoints or steering box (or swivle bearings :o ).

Bit more detail needed though to be precise.

Yoshi:
As an afterthought, the lights could be the switch????
