When I was 17 and looking for a car to buy I found a series landy to be the cheapest car to insure. I got quotes for about £800.

Tell him to do the pass pluss course. That will bring the policy down loads.

Is that in your name? Rather good if it is, I'm paying about double that for my own polocy with Footman James on simular terms.

During my first year (21) they were half the price of anyone else who'd consider it.  Last year I had more options but stuck with FJ and used other quotes to get them to lower the price.  I'll be entering year 3 next month so the fun will start again!

Word of warning about a company I wasn't keen on but might be good depending on your polocy type...Firebond. They were very pushy on the phone with a very cheep quote, but in the small print they wouldn't give agreed value, only market value.  If your after cheep insurance on a cheep landy its probubly fine but I wanted fully comp that'd garantee to pay more than £500 if I needed to claim as my landy wouldn't be easy or cheep to replace like for like.

Last time I asked NFU about insurance they said they only considered insuring people under 23 (or there abouts) if their perents/family already held another polocy with them.  A strange restriction I thought.

That's how I've got insured.  My father's car and my Land Rover share the same Policy, so naturally I'm under my father's name who is the Policy Holder.
