Ive not had a vitara for long (Soft top)..
Suns out...
I'm off work...
How the Blu@#y hell do you get the top down..
It dont look the same as my old sj.. but that was a long time ago.
If at first you dont succeed............... GET A BIGGER HAMMER. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

firstly do you have a two part roof or one part..

two part is self explanitory by all the clips.. sunroof comes out back just folds down once the window is out..

one peice ones are as follows:

if you just want the sun roof then un clip the two hinges under the sun visors and simply fold back, there should be a little tag on the centre connection that slots through the metal bar of the front.

whole roof:
unbutton the 2 central poppers inside cab.
take out rear window.
unpopper the side windows, and remove from frame
unpopper rear window poppers
the front of the roof is similar to just doing the sun roof but instead of tying it down pull gently along the front to release the clips and then the tags that run along side

and it should hopefully just slide off, but it all depends on the conditon of the roof as to how flexable it is.

Thanks Bunnie.... I had the same problem as paul-unny. I will say It was scary as hell taking it off first time... i thought this cannot be right!

It went back on so easily I was amazed! Just dont think it will go on quickly! :lol:  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:
