Hi

Need to get some AT's for my wifes road car, we do live in the county side so thought AT's might be a good option. Or do you only need AT's if you are going to go laning. What is the downside to AT's

I have MT's on my toy but this is for the wifey and my daughter to be riding around in.

Any advicee on good tyre choice for these.

Think standard fit is a 205 70 16

can I go for slightly wider ones maybe up to a 225.

me and jake have fitted general grabber AT2 size 245/70/16

cost me £85 each fitted and ballanced

very good both on and off road, well recomended  8)

205 are standard, crikey.  If you are happy with them then stick to them, plenty of choice around and cheaper.

On the RRC the handbook used to say no bigger than 225/75, but then as 235/70 became so popular the Disco was fitted with them as an option.  Personally I feel they are a little too wide for a 7 inch rim as a road tyre, to get the best handling at least.

As for AT, well which ones?

BFG AT are damn good, though you can find their limit in the brown, they are a true 50/50 AT

Goodyear Wrangler, on a 205 is also pretty much a 50/50 AT

But go to 235/70 and the choice of tread patterns makes them a 70/30.  A good on road tyre in any of the 4 polpular Wrangler patterns, but not as good as BFG.

Shame youy are so far away as I've got a good set of part worn Goodyear wranglers on nice rims :roll:

Migfht fit them to the LSE and smoke them :twisted:

I run BFGodrichMT on my off roader and General AT2's on my road car.

I can honestly say there is very little difference between them off road and the AT2's drive superbly on road!

I can not recommend the AT2's enough they really are brilliant.

I thin this is something you will hear repeated from others should you ask them.

Personally i would go 235-70-R16 as friends run 265 and they seem even better.

I will say i have never used 205 so cant cmment on those (but do take on board what RRB says)  :wink:
