It is never too muddy unless there is mud on the roof. even then, if you can see paintwork it is not TOO muddy. Time for a divorce, I would think that making you wash the car too often is grounds for unreasonable behaviour!

I had a go in France on their green lanes, well not really green lanes but mud lanes and plenty of it.
There was mud every where, all the panels inc roof and under the bonnet too.
I had a really good time.
I remember comeing back through customs at Dover and the customs official saying after taking one look at the Disco, "I wont even ask what you`ve been doing"
My Disco was dark blue.
It was top to toe in mud, when i got home i didn`t wash it for a week.

I took my disco out to the muddiest lanes I could find the day before my Dads funeral. He wanted a landy funeral car but was too expensive so next best thing was to follow in a very muddy disco. Got a few looks and usher type person didnt want to move disco to parking spot incase he got mud on his suit getting in!! Wimp!!!

also went off roading in Bristol and came back caked in mud. the looks I got in Bristol were ace. Looked like those anti 4x4 people had thrown buckets of mud over the car. I saved them a job!

We got 2 buckets of mud out of the Dakar when I got it. All I'd done was to drive it home at that point!

And yes, there was mud in the tape player.
