Q1 Pinion Oil Seal Q2 Drop Arm
« on: March 25, 2007, 18:48:35 »
Q1 The above has gone on the front Diff of my RRC, how easy / hard are these to change?

Q2 I also have some play at the bottom of the drop arm, how do I renew this, is there a bush to replace or has the arm got to be changed?

Q2 A:does the drop arm have a ball joint  :?:

B : or is the ball joint on the drag link bar  :?:

A:replace ball joint as they are only £8 ish to buy and fairly easy to change

B:change ball joint on the end of drag link even easier than above

and the difference in steering will be unbelievable

I know only just changed mine  :D

All I know is that the steering box has 3 bolts instead of the newer 4, I will have to take a look and let you know.

First one I did the arm wouldn't come off the steering box, it was raining and I had to work under the car.

Not so bad excfept the car had belonged to a numpty of the first order, who rotated the drag link so that the baljoint was binding on the housing to take up the slack for the MOT.  There was no shoulder to draw the outer race through and it was well worn.

All I can say is "Dremel grinds"
