The British army started using the generation 2 machines (diesel engines, disc brakes, power steering, 2.5 tonne payload on the 6x6), and as soon as they got the initial teething troubles sorted out, flogged the company to the yanks!!  They're now owned by Stewart and Stevenson, an american company..
